Regional Mentoring Program

MSBO Board of Directors has for many years relied on a decentralized mentoring program where each Regional Group President coordinates a mentoring program locally where new business managers are connected with experienced business managers within their regional group. This facilitates a relationship that is bolstered by attendance at regular regional group meetings. The Regional Mentoring Program was developed by regional groups to help new business managers. 328 Jill Mulders, CPA, is currently employed as an Assistant Director of Finance and Accounting with Bay City Public Schools. She graduated from Saginaw Valley State University with a Bachelors of Professional Accountancy. After graduation she worked for a public accounting firm, auditing school districts for seven years. Jill is eager to share the experiences she encountered as she entered school accounting and hopes to encourage new business managers during their transition, through the new Regional Mentoring Program. 359 Melodie Kociba, CPA, is a Business Manager currently employed with the Bad Axe Public School District. After graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree from Saginaw Valley State University, majoring in Accounting, she went on to earn her Master’s Degree in Business Administration. Before entering public accounting, Melodie worked in the private sector for twelve years as both an accountant and Chief Financial Officer in the telecommunications and agricultural industries. She also worked two years for a public accounting firm. In 2008, Melodie became a Certified Public Account. Melodie is excited to be part of the upcoming MSBO mentoring program, and hopes her past experience and current position will help new Business Managers as they enter into the field of public school accounting. 326 Sara Hegel is Business Manager at Coleman Community Schools. Sara graduated with honors from Northwood University in 2008 with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. Sara was hired in June of 2010 by Coleman Community Schools as an Assistant Business Manager. 327 Mark Williams, Regional Vice President, Eastern Region, of National Insurance Services (NIS), knows the challenges facing his public sector clients. Coming from a family of teachers, he understands how important benefits can be, but he also understands the political and financial realities school administrators face.   Mark leads a team of committed benefits professionals who serve school districts, cities and counties throughout Connecticut, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Michigan, New Hampshire, New Jersey and Virginia . He is a licensed insurance agent, holds a CLTC (Certified in Long-Term Care) designation and has won numerous awards for leadership and sales achievements.
